There is no fixed dealer in this game as the players take turn at dealing cards. The dealer remains the same till the bank keeps winning and then the cards are passed over to the next player. In the online version of the game a virtual dealer deals the cards. The cards are dealt from a shoe (a box) containing 6-8 decks of cards. The cards 2-9 carry the same points as the number on them, while 10 and the face cards carry zero points. A player calculates the hand total by adding up the points on all the cards, however if the total exceeds 10 then the tens digit is excluded, for example if a person gets a 6 and a 7 card his total adds up to 13 but is counted as 3, a total of 10 is counted as zero and is called a baccarat, the highest winning total is 9. The higher total wins.
Two cards each are dealt in two hands and are called the player and the bank. A player can bet on bank, player or tie. The dealer plays the bank hand while the player with the highest bet on the player hand plays it. If the player hand is less than 5 he can draw one more card, while the bank draws another card depending on the player’s total. The higher of the two hands wins. If the players total adds up to 8 or 9, he wins and no more cards are drawn.
The odds of 1:1 are offered for betting on banker or player while tie draws higher odds depending on casino to casino.
